We're mapping how family structure shapes the lives it passes through, one honest conversation at a time. Share yours, and help get to the root of what causes so much of our suffering.
You, your parents, and the generations behind them.
So much of what hurts people takes shape inside the family long before it shows up anywhere else: instability, loss, cycles that repeat generation after generation.
This is a women's sociological research project. We sit down with volunteers and, using simple tools, map out the structure of their family as far back as they know it: who was present, who was absent, and how each arrangement carried forward.
No theory to defend, no judgment to pass. Just people willing to look honestly at where they come from, so patterns that stay hidden can finally be seen and understood.
Three steps, on your terms, at a pace and place that feel comfortable to you.
Call or text and leave your name, city, and the best way to reach you. We'll follow up to find a time that works.
We meet at a library, civic center, shelter, or any space where you feel at ease. There's never a cost.
Together we put your family's structure on paper, going back as far as you know it, using easy tools we'll walk you through.
Still wondering about something? Text us any time at (830) 624-5360.
Wherever you feel comfortable: libraries, civic centers, shelters, or any safe space you prefer. We'll find a spot together.
None at all. Taking part is completely free, and it always will be.
We'll help you put your family structure on paper using our easy tools. You'll want to think back as far into your family's past as you know, up through your family's present arrangement, but you don't need to prepare anything in advance.
Call or text (830) 624-5360. If no one picks up, leave your name, city, state, and contact information, and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
Head to the Data page and open Visualizations, where you'll find the step by step instructions. It's a simple test you can do on your own in a minute.

Tiffany · Survey participantEvery conversation we hold is offered at no cost, to the volunteers who give their time and to the families who need it most. Your gift covers the simple things that make that possible: interview materials, travel to shelters and safe spaces, and the care it takes to do this well.
Give once or monthly. Every amount moves the work forward.
Volunteer to be a participant. Together, we can get to the root causes of the suffering so many families carry, and start to change it.
